I just wanted to say how much I feel for you and how disappointed I am seeing all of this unfold. Working with you guys back in the day was honestly one of the most meaningful parts of my time in New York. I remember how tense things were even then, there was always this underlying friction I didn’t totally understand at the time, but you all handled it with so much professionalism and grace. When I saw the tour announcement, I was so excited at first like, heart racing, hopeful kind of excited. Then I read the fine print at the bottom of the Rolling Stone article and realized it wasn’t the full band… and I was just gutted. As someone who worked with you for a couple years, it was always you, Vito, and Gabe who were present, communicative, collaborative, just really decent to work with. I rarely heard from Luke and never really got to know him the way I did the rest of you. So seeing him go out solo under The Rapture name just doesn’t sit right. That isn’t the Rapture. It’s really fucking disappointing. I know a lot of fans feel the same way let down and kind of heartbroken. I still hope maybe one day we get to see the full band come together again, but I won’t be going to see Luke solo.
Thank you for speaking your truth, Mattie. As an aside, I'm so glad I got to see you four back in 2006 here in Sheffield at The Leadmill (RIP) and when I met you all beforehand Gabe, Vito and yourself were very happy to sign my 7" copy of 'GMII' (I was very happy to get a photo with you too), whilst Luke frankly seemed irritated at having to make time for one of his revolting public. I won't be catching any of the UK shows out of respect to the rest of you and hope you're all in a good place otherwise. Peace
Thank you for putting into words my thoughts on this and adding some context. I too loved the electricity of the band when it was you, Gabe, Vito, and Luke. I'm glad I got to see that incarnation 4 times, with the first show being Club Congress in Tucson in 2003. I went in not knowing anything about the band beyond seeing the HOJL video once or twice, and came out a huge fan.
Thank you for clarifying this, I already thought the poster was very suspicious with only Luke in the picture. I got very excited about it for a moment but then I guessed (correctly) that you and probably also the rest wouldn't be in it. I actually used to mentally associate the band with you the most, as you were the bass player (the instrument I'm more drawn into) and having main vocals in the songs I liked the most. But yeah it's not the Rapture if it's not all 4 of you together. After reading your post I see better how all 4 were equally important.
Shame this tour is so misleading and that the sites where the news about this tour was posted would conveniently not bother explaining what "The Rapture" as a "band" means in this case, some even saying The Rapture "reunite", that's crazy.
I hope I'll be able to see lovetempo live some day though!
Welp, I bought 7 tickets to Brooklyn Steel without fully realizing the details of this marketing stunt. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but my excitement got the better of me! Forever grateful I saw the magic lineup way back in (I think) 2004 at Avalon in Boston. Thanks for being you Matty.
7 tickets! Welp indeed. Glad you got to see the classic lineup, I hope the show is enjoyable even if it’s not whaat you were hoping for (or that you can get a refund 😸)
Glad I read this before buying tickets! Something didn't seem right. I loved seeing you back in the day - this wouldn't be the same, so will hold on to those memories instead.
Glad that you were able to come enjoy the shows back in the day! Not sure how many people know what’s going on, they’re being pretty cagey about what the tour really is.
Thanks for writing. I feel lucky that I got to see the band in its original incarnation so long ago. I remember you guys played The Metro in Chicago in support of the second record and I happened to walk past the venue a few hours before the show. I ran into you outside and you were kind enough to sign my copy of the CD. Afterwards when I saw that you’d left the band it felt like such a bittersweet memento to have in my possession. Unfortunately I lost it around four or five moves around the country ago.
Placed in the broader context of Jenner’s interactions with quotes about James Murphy it paints a picture of someone narcissistic and honestly kind of off. I wish everything had turned out for the better and that Luke could step outside of himself, but given his own recent history and statements about his own experience it’s clear that he has a lot of his own complex issues to tackle.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for sharing that memory. I always loved playing in Sheffield, such a great crowd!

That Club Congress show was epic!

Saw you guys at Glastonbury 2003 with Bez on HOJL and made me a fan for life!
That was a crazy show and a really fun day hanging with Bez.
One of my favorite bands ever. I totally agree won’t be the same without the original crew. Hope that can change some day.
Me too. Thank you for reading.
Speaking the god damn truth 👍
We all gotta try!

Thanks for reading! Happy to try and sign another CD if you want one.
And yes, I too wish Luke could step outside of himself.
